专利摘要:
A method for measuring the liquid content in a "bag-in-box" as in wine cartons by detecting the change in permittivity in a capacitor arranged inside the wine carton and where the pennivity between the capacitor plates is determined by the wine contents in the bag. The method further comprises a temperature gauge which is an integral part of the display instrument on the carton.

534 295 2 documents are relatively complicated and therefore not suitable for the purpose according to the present invention.
JP A 59042418 describes a volume network device which is based on the use of a strain gauge. The use of an electronic circuit allows the volume of liquid to be announced by means of sound signals. The device needs to be reset for each volume measurement and is therefore not suitable for the purpose according to the present invention. The object of the present invention is to provide a method for measuring the level and temperature in containers containing liquid or liquid-like substances where known methods for leveling and temperature measurement cannot be used directly, or where such methods would be too expensive for the purpose.
As follows, the procedures will be described for a standard three liter BIB, but the procedures can be applied to many other liquid containers and are consequently not limited to be applicable only to wine cartons.
The basis of the methods is the detection of the change in permittivity in a capacitor arranged in the carton, which change in permittivity is due to a change in the amount of wine in the bag inside the carton. The change in pemi-activity will consequently be proportional to the remaining wine in the carton.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a method of detecting the liquid level in an inner container, preferably a bag, arranged in an outer container, such as in wine cartons, the contents of the inner container being detected by changes in the permittivity of a capacitor located on the inside of the outer container. the changes in the pennivity are caused by a change in the content of the liquid in the inner container, characterized in that one of the capacitor plates is formed by metallization of part, or all, of the inside of the outer container, and that the other capacitor plate is formed by the metallized surface of a display instrument located in the outer container and facing the inner container or liquid container, and that an insulating layer is arranged between it and the inner surface between the surfaces.
The present invention further provides an outer container intended as a package for containing an inner container, preferably a bag, wherein areas of the inner surface of the container function as condenser surfaces and wherein the container, in a window formed in one of the side surfaces, comprises a display instrument, characterized! that one of the capacitor surfaces is formed by metallizing part or all of the inside of the outer container and that the other capacitor surface is formed by the back of said display instrument, and that between it and the inside surface of the outer container an insulating layer is arranged between the surfaces.
A capacitor is obtained by arranging metallized surfaces on parts of the inner surface of the outer container. The capacitor surfaces can be arranged in any way in the outer container, provided that no short circuit occurs. The metallized surfaces can be obtained by applying metal foil or by brush application.
The electrical energy required to establish a field between the capacitor plates can be provided by solar cells or by means of a battery. It is preferred to use a battery that is activated by the user when the user starts using the wine box.
This activation can be easily carried out by arranging a box or the like on the box and the user tearing off the box when the box is to be used, or by other methods described in more detail below.
Between the capacitor plates, air, vacuum or an insulating material can mainly be found, and in special cases also liquids or gases. The medium between the capacitor plates is, in the case shown with a wine carton, varying amounts of liquid.
Permittivity as a value describes how an electric field affects and is affected by a dielectric medium, and is determined by the ability of the material to polarize in response to the field, thereby reducing the electric field within the material. Permittivity thus refers to the ability of a material to transmit an electric field. In general, permittivity is not a constant; it varies as the ratios of the capacitor plates change and can consequently be used as a measurable value in conjunction with the present invention.
The temperature sensor used in connection with the present invention is a standard temperature sensor known in the art. 20 534 295 4 The problem associated with measuring liquid content in a BIB is that there is limited space in the container. In addition, the liquid pass must not be damaged and the carton must be able to be mass-produced with the help of existing packaging machines without the automatic machines having to be subjected to radical changes. Since the bottling facilities receive the cartons flat, the sensor needs to be part of the carton and also be flat.
The present invention is described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows the inside of a carton intended for use as an outer container, in an unfolded condition, as when delivered to the bottling plant.
Figure 2 shows the outside of the outer container in an unfolded condition, with an inserted display.
Figure 3 shows a section through the side of the outer container containing said display.
Figure 4 shows a part of the inner surface of the outer container, where the separate parts can be discerned.
Figure 5 shows the inside of the unfolded outer container with the separate parts mounted.
Figure 6 is a view showing the extent of the field lines between the capacitor surfaces.
Referring to Fig. 1, an inside of a carton is shown which is unfolded as when delivered to the bottling facilities. A) shows the carton punched out so that it can be folded to form a box or box. B) shows an area of the carton which is metallized either with an electrically conductive paint and / or with a coating of metal or gaff, and which forms one of the surfaces of the condenser. C) shows the back of the electronic circuit inserted in a hole punched in the carton. D) shows an extension of the sensor which together with C) is metallized on the surface and consequently forms the other of the capacitor plates. An insulating material H) shown in Fig. 3 is arranged between C) and D) and the surface B) to prevent short circuit of the plates B) and C) and D).
When the electronic circuit is inserted in its hole, one or more resilient contact points of the metallized surface B) are arranged thereon, thereby avoiding soldered connections. 532% 'E95 5 Fig. 2 shows the outside of the unfolded carton with the surface F) on which all the pressure is applied.
G) shows the front of the electronic instrument where temperature and level are shown on an LSD display. A battery, which is activated by sipping wine, is arranged on the front of the instrument. Activation can take place either by pulling the tap inside the box out through the hole E) in Fig. 1, or can be activated by removing a plastic strip which abuts against the poles of the battery.
Perforations are arranged around the punched hole for the electronic instrument, so that after use it is easy to pull out the instrument and dispose of it as electronic waste.
The electronic instrument contains the electronics that convert the change in permittivity to a readable numerical value on the display, which can show the remaining contents of the box, either as remaining glass, liters or as some other volume or weight indication. This value can alternate between showing the amount of liquid in the box and the temperature therein, or there can be two rows with values showing the same at the same time.
Fig. 3 shows a section through the carton and the instrument, the individual references being the same as the above-mentioned Fig. 4 is a view of the folded box where the individual components can be discerned therein.
Fig.5 shows the carton fi without the inside as in Fig. l, but where the metallized surface B) has been replaced by a metallized fi ch or color I).
